Aizawl (ZoramObserver.com): An online petition has been started by Thif-Live.com on Change.org requesting the All India Football Federation not to relegate I-League Champions to a Second Division League Club.
The target is to achieve 5,000 votes, and as May 10, 2017, it is still short by over 2,000 votes. The online petition is given below and if you want to help Aizawl FC, you can sign the petition here.
Aizawl FC finished eighth in the nine-team I-League but with the last-placed DSK Shivajians immune from relegation for three seasons as they are a corporate backed entity, the axe automatically fell on Aizawl.
Aizawl FC recentely defeated newly crowned I-League champions, Bengaluru FC in Federation Cup quarterfinal match by 5-3 (aggregate) and moved to semi finals. This is great performance and such team cannot be relegated to lower division.
We have only 9 team in top division, we should have more, we can let Aizawl stay in Top division and bring more teams from second division. By doing this we can have more competitive league.
We all urge AIFF, not to relegate Aizawl FC to lower division. Please sign this petition so that AIFF management will know what we all fans want.
