Mizoram bans import of pigs from Myanmar, Bangladesh

The Government of Mizoram has banned import of pigs from Myanmar and Bangladesh.

The decision was taken after reports of swine fever in Lawngtlai District.

“The flu in Lawngtlai district has been identified as PRRS and swine fever. In view of this, CrPC section 144 has been imposed in Lawngtlai District to ban import of pigs from Myanmar and Bangladesh,” said a statement released by Lawngtlai DC Dr A. Muthamma.

The order will be in place for two months from from April 24, 2017.

“Those violating the order would be prosecuted as per IPC section 188,” the statement added.
