Japanese Monks Complete 1,000 Days Hardest Endurance Tests

The Buddhist monks of Mount Hiei in Japan perform the seven-year pilgrimage of Kaihōgyō where they must walk on endlessly.

Traditionally, any monk who is unable to complete the task must take his own life.

An interesting documentary has been shared on Youtube that throws light on why this ritual is so important for these monks.

The unique pilgrimage is one of the highest the monks can achieve in this world during their lifetime.
