A campaign committee has been formed for actor and former WWE wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to make him United States president.
The committee has registered “Run the Rock 2020,” – the name of the official organization on behalf of the actor with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Sunday, according to FEC records.
The paperwork was filed by Kenton Tilford from West Virginia. The actor’s connection with Tilford is not yet clear.
However, reports in the US media said that Tilford is a Democrat who had backed US president Donald Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
The actor had joked his White House dreams during the “Saturday Night Live” show in May this year. Later, he said he was seriously considering running for the top job in America. It’s “a real possibility,” he said.
In an interview with GQ in May, he discussed Trump’s policies and said he would add better leadership, responsibility and “poise” if he were in the Oval Office.
The actor, who is a declared Independent, had spoken at both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention in 2000.
