Guwahati (ZoramObserver.com): Continuing the efforts for the betterment of standard of living of the locals, the 43 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (East) assisted Ms Remthling Hmar walk again.
Ms Hmar is a resident of Tuolpoi village in Assam’s Dima Hasao District.
The force acquired an advanced artificial limb for the woman and she has been given training to use the “new leg”.
Ms Hmar was a victim of the Dimasa-Hmar tribal clash in 2003 and she lost her left leg at very young age.
“She was taken to Guwahati from village Tuolpoi on March 4, 2017 the next day she was fitted with an Improved Artificial Limb during on Artificial Limb Fitment Camp organised at the Guwahati Medical College,” the Assam Rifles said.
The camp was presided by Assam Chief Minister Sarbanond Sonowal and Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court Ajit Singh.
“We sincerely hope and wish Ms Remthling Hmar a better life in times to come,” the security force said in a statement.
