Zorammawia takes oath as new Information Commissioner of Mizoram

Aizawl: Retired IPS officer Zorammawia took oath as the new Information Commissioner of Mizoram.

Mizoram governor Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma administered oath of office and secrecy to the new commissioner at a swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here on Friday .

Zorammawia started his career by joining the Mizoram Police Service (MPS) in 1982 and later joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) in 1995.

He retired as the Inspector General of Police, Mizoram on 28 February this year.

He is a recipient of Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 1998 and also the prestigious President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in the year 2005.

A notification appointing him the new Information Commissioner of Mizoram was issued by the governor on May 3.

Friday swearing-in ceremony was attended by finance minister Lalsawta, education minister H. Rohluna, transport minister John Rotluangliana, Deputy chief whip RL Pianmawia, chief information commissioner Lalduhthlana Ralte and other officials including planning board vice chairman H. Liansailova.
