Aizawl: Good news for travelers in the northeastern states of India, India’s latest private airline, Zoom Air, is anticipating to start its three days in a week scheduled operations on the Aizawl-Shillong- Kolkata sector this week, sources said on Friday.
In spite of its earlier schedule which was said to begin from Thursday, the air service could not take off on the schedule date due to undisclosed problem.
Cheaper and quicker
It will operate three days in a week service between Aizawl, Shillong and Kolkata. The airline would fly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. The cheapest fare between Aizawl and Shillong is available at Rs. 985 and the airline reserves 40 tickets for Aizawl-Shillong, sources said.
All Zoom Air aircraft are Bombardier Canadair Regional Jets, of 50 premier seater long-range versions, with quiet cabin and fast cruise technology and fitted with High Performance CF34-3B19 engines by GE Aerospace. The airline started its daily scheduled operations on the Delhi-Kolkata-Durgapur-Delhi sector from February 15. The same was extended to Amritsar, followed by Delhi-Surat-Bhavnagar-Delhi, an evening service and presently it cover 17 cities including Aizawl. The airline becomes India’s 10th scheduled carrier for domestic skies presently, with others being Air India, Air India Express, Jet Airways, Jetlite, Indigo, Spicejet, GoAir, Vistara and Air Asia India.
Meanwhile, another airline Jet Airways – Boeing 737 with 168 seaters has started operation on Aizawl-Mumbai sector from Tuesday.
