Aizawl (www. zoramobserver.com): Along with rest of the country, Mizoram on Tuesday celebrated 56th Teacher’s Day in all educational institutions across the state. During the occasion teachers were honoured with gifts and garlands and some institutions held special programme to commemorate teachers.
Addressing teacher’s day celebration at Reiek organized by Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), school education minister H. Rohluna hailed teachers as nation builders who occupied respectable position in the society.
He said that the value of teacher is highly cherished and teacher’s day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in every developing country.
“Teachers deserve accolade and respect as they are the builder of a nation, producer of educated people and the people who help us to reach up to this state of advancement,” he said.
While lauding the teachers who left their home to render service to the people, he also called upon them to execute their duty with zeal and dedication.
He also said that the government is committed to improve the status of teachers as they occupied an important place in the society and that they one of the most important people in contributing towards the country’s development.
He said that the government received sanction from NABARD and NEDP for upgradation of government run schools.
He added that the government is taking effort to recruit 100 teachers for primary schools and 60 for middle schools to ease off problem faced by students due to shortage of teachers in the state.
Teacher’s day celebration was also held in all educational institutions in other parts of the state during which teachers were felicitated with gifts and garlands.
In Lunglei, the celebration of teacher’s day was held at Baptist Higher Secondary School (BHSS). Lunglei Assembly constituency MLA Joseph Lalhlimpuia attended the event as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Lalhlimpuia announced allocation of Rs. 70 lakh to BHSS school for extension of the school building.
Social Welfare Minister PC Lalthanliana also graced teacher’s day celebration at DIET in Lunglei.
As per latest information, teacher’s day celebration was also held in Aizawl, Mamit, Kolasib, Serchhip, Champhai, Lawngtlai and Siaha in the august presence of officials.
