NLUP and SEDP are baits to entice Mizoram voters: Lalduhoma

Aizawl: Lalduhoma, the chief ministerial candidate of  Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), an electoral alliance formed by seven political parties has vehemently slammed Congress’ flagship programme New Land Use Policy (NLUP) and Mizo National Front’s Socio-Economic Development Policy (SEDP) as  baits to entice voters.

Addressing a meeting at Buangpui village in central Mizoram’s Serchhip district on Saturday, Lalduhoma said that both the ruling Congress and MNF used financial disbursement agenda to woo the voters.

“Both the Congress and MNF are keen on vote bank politics and the NLUP and SEDP have been used as baits to entice voters,” he said.

NLUP is the Congress flagship programme through which the party promised to give financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to poor families, while the MNF promised to give Rs 3 lakh each to farmers under SEDP.

Lalduhoma  alleged that both the ruling Congress party and MNF want only votes for which they were selling disbursement agenda.

He urged people not to believe in the false agenda of Congress and MNF.

The IPS officer turned politician said that the ZPM has propelled the agenda for development of farmers.

“We encourage farmers and poor families to toil and we are taking efforts to help them become rich,” he said.

He said that the ZPM will make all out effort to make Mizoram a self dependent state.

Lalduhoma also lambasted Congress and MNF for steady development during their regime.

He said that both the parties have interchangeably ruled the state for more than 30 years, but no big changes have been achieved.

Lalduhoma had earlier declared that the will contest from chief minister Lal Thanhawla’s home turf Serchhip.
