As part of the massive campaign, leaders of MPF yesterday held an meeting with workers of various political parties within Aizawl West II assembly constituency and studied about the covenant for free and fair elections signed with political parties. The event was held at Kanaan Presbyterian Kohhran hall under the leadership of MPF Aizawl West II forum President Rev C.Chawngliana.
MPF General Secretary Rev Dr. R Lalbiakmawia, who spoke on the occasion elaborated about the campaign theme of the organisation –“Ram chu Lalpa ta a ni” (The land belongs to God).
He said that the MPF believe in the principle that a free and fair election can be a blessing for the state of Mizoram.
Formed in 2006, the MPF used to monitor selection of candidates, expenses incurred by parties, and even micro-managing what should, or should not, figure in poll manifestos. It also used to organize what it calls a common platform at different places where candidates of various political parties stand on one podium, deliver speeches and take queries from the audience. In some ways, it is like the US presidential debate.
