MNYF accuses Lal Thanzara of illegally sharing portfolio with his brother

Aizawl ( Mizo National Youth Front (MNYF), the youth wing of Mizo National Front (MNF) on Wednesday blamed Health Minister Lal Thanzara accusing him of illegally sharing portfolios with his brother Chief Minister  Lal Thanhawla and asked the two leaders to not interfere beyond the norm permitted by law.

A statement issued by the youth wing said that Lal Thanzara shares the portfolio of Public Works Department and Power & Electricity Department with his brother despite being a minister, which is illegal.

The youth wing alleged that the health minister called a meeting of PWD and P&E department on several occasions acting as though he is helping his brother.

“We appealed the minister  (Lal Thanzara) to not illegally interfere in other department but look after his concerned department effectively,” the statement said.

Lal Thanzara resigned as a minister and legislator in 2015 in the wake of allegation that he held plethora of share in a Delhi based Company Sunshine Overseas. He was elected again in the by-election and was accorded Health & Family Welfare, Information & Public Relation and Information & Communication Technology department in his brother’s cabinet.

“Even as there was no official notification directing Lal Thanzara to assist the Chief Minister, the former had convened meeting of PWD and P&E department on a number of occasions as though he is helping his brother, which is illegal,” the statement said.
