Aizawl: Mizo National Front (MNF) on Monday said it will give priority to implementation of border trade in south Mizoram’s Tlabung town to boost border trade with neighbouring Bangladesh.
Addressing a political session at Lunglei, MNF adviser Lianchama Chhangte said the party would keep Tlabung border trade in its priority list if it comes to power in the upcoming assembly elections.
He said that the border trade in Tlabung has to be made operational since it would benefit the people in southern part of the state.
“We will give priority to border trade in Tlabung to make it operation in order to boost border trade with Bangladesh as the border trade will pave way for development of south Mizoram especially Lunglei district,” he said.
He said that Tlabung was named among 13 integrated Check Posts (ICP) by the central government on October 17, 2017 for implementation of border trade in the border town.
He said that a four lane road has been constructed for Kawrpuichhuah in south Mizoram under world bank.
According to the leader, establishment of border trade in Tlabung town was mentioned in the 1986 Mizo peace accord and said that the MNF has to come to power in order to make the border trade operational.
