Aizawl(zoramobserver.com): Mizoram’s Sainik School at Chhingchhip, which is the 27th and the latest Sainik School in the country will begin admitting girl cadets from the new academic session 2018-19, an official here said.
Mizoram governor Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.) expressed his appreciation over the Central government’s decision to allow admission of girl students starting from next academic session.
Being an ardent advocate of this move, the governor said that this shows that there is equal opportunity for development in Mizoram and the state leads the nation in gender equality and empowerment of women.
“The news is a wonderful gift to the people of Mizoram on the joyous occasion of Christmas”, he added.
In this connection, Sainik School Chhingchhip has invited applications for admission into 6th standard for girl cadets. An entrance examination will be held on 7 January next year (Sunday), while applications can be submitted till 30 December this year. Girls born between 02.07.2006 and 01.07.2008 (both days inclusive) will be eligible for this examination, the statement added.
