Aizawl (zoramobsever.com): The dead bodies of a 32 year-old woman and her 3 year-old son, who were carried away by landslide have been recovered after volunteers continued search operation for six days, sources on Sunday said.
The two victims, who belonged to Changpui village in south Mizoram’s Lunglei district have been reportedly missing when their house was hit and swept away by landslide on 12 June. Other occupants including the family head Chhuanmawia escaped the disaster.
While the dead body of the mother Lalhunmawii was recovered on Saturday, her son Vanlalpeka was located on Saturday by local volunteers on the sixth day.
Soon after the incident, local volunteers launched search operation to locate the two victims. Many volunteers from neighbouring villages like Lungchem,Thenhlum,Bungtlang, Buarpui, and Bunghmun also joined the search operation. The bodies were finally recovered on the fifth and sixth day, sources said.
