Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): Three-day winter session of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly was adjourned sine die yesterday by Speaker Hiphei.
The Speaker adjourned the House in the afternoon after giving report on the proceedings of the winter session.
The session, which commenced from Tuesday was the 14th session of the seventh state legislative assembly.
During the course of session, the legislature passed two government bills namely ‘The Mizoram Parliamentary Secretaries (Appointment, Salaries, Allowances & Miscellaneous Provisions) (Repeal) Bill, 2017’ and ‘The Mizoram State Higher Education Council Bill, 2017’ and two amendment bills- ‘The Mizoram (Pension for member of the Defunct Mizo District Council & of the Defunct Pawi Lakher Regional Council) (Amendment) Bill, 2017’ and The Mizoram Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, 2017,’ while the Mizoram Urban Areas Rent Control Bill, 2017 was referred to the select committee.
Of the 106 starred questions entered, 12 and 6 unstarred questions were answered. 13 reports and 22 papers were presented and laid during the session.
Tributes were paid to the three former legislators – Zakhu Hlychho, F Lalzuala and Col Lalchungnunga who died recently.
