Landslides cut off various parts of Mizoram as rain continues

Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): Many sections of roads in Mizoram have been cut off by landslides over the last few weeks because of incessant rains. Reports received from remote areas said that the locals are also helping the state administration in trying to restore road links.

“We are assisting the road workers with all possible help as we have the manpower who selflessly volunteered in times of crisis,” said YMA leaders from Lunglei. Meanwhile, the state government also said yesterday that was doing its best to repair roads across the state. However, due to the difficult terrain, many roads are still left unusable.

Zoram Observer also received many photos from various parts of the state and today we are sharing one photo that was taken after a landslide on the road Aizawl-Champhai road.

“This photo is taken at a landslide area between Kawlkulh (near Tuivawl river) and Keifang on June 17, 2017, on the road to Champhai,” the person sending the photo said via WhatsApp. It is still not clear whether the government has been able to restore the road.
