Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla on Monday urged party workers to work in one accord to strengthen the party.
Addressing party workers at the official opening of party office for the current year, the five time Mizoram chief minister said that the fate of Congress winning next assembly elections depend on the solidarity of party workers.
“The fate of Congress winning elections is totally depending on solidarity among the party workers and Congress may fail to win not due to outside force and opposition but disintegration within the party,” he said.
He also said that Congress in the only party in Mizoram to form government for five term in the state. “If the party workers collaborate and unite in one accord, we have ample chance of winning the election to form government for sixth term which will be a milestone and record breaking event in the political history of Mizoram,” he added.
He also said that Mizoram may face assembly elections in the first part of this year along with other states.
Hitting out at state BJP, Lal Thanhawla said they (BJP) are in a bid hurry for they are hopeful to win the assembly elections.
“They began to spread false propaganda that they are competent authority to change or amend the constitution of India as per their will. This is not exactly right for which party leaders cautioned some party workers to be careful of their remarks,” he said.
“Though oppositions including BJP launched huge attack on Congress led Mizoram government, central leaders including the president did not have something to complaint about the state government, but keeps on praising. This was clear when President Kovind visited Mizoram last year and making praise on the state government in his official address to the special assembly,” he added.
Lal Thanhawla also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for commissioning and inaugurating the 60 MegaWatt Tuirial Hydro Electric Power Project, which according to him has been stalled for around 10 years due to corruption under Mizo National Front (MNF), a constituent of North-East Democratic Alliance formed by the BJP to make Congress free state in the country.
During the official opening of party office, Lal Thanhawla also inducted 133 new voters from Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) and MNF into Congress.
