Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): The flood victims at Ngengpuikai and Khawmawi villages in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district faced food grain crisis as road has been damaged due to flash floods and landslide at several places.
Sources said that the villagers have no sufficient rice and they supplemented on atta or wheat flour as no food grains could be transported due to damage of road connecting the two villages with other parts of the state.
Ngengpuikai and Khawmawi villages in Lawngtlai district were flooded by water caused by incessant rainfall that hit Mizoram since June 12.
Sources said that at least 6 houses each in the two villages were submerged by flash floods putting the victims at disadvantages. Apart from dwelling houses, several paddy fields and farms were also submerged by the flash floods, sources added.
Officials of World Vision India and Chhimtuipui ADP on Saturday visited the flood ravaged villages and gave aid to the flood victims.
Meanwhile, Lunglei West assembly constituency MLA Chalrosanga Ralte on Saturday visited Lunglei College veng which had been ravaged by landslide and also eye witnessed the clearing of debris at Venglai area carried out by volunteers of joint Venglai VC and Venghlun VC.
