Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): “Development of Mizoram through education by stressing on the academic career of students would be my top priority,” said new Vice-Chancellor of Mizoram University Prof. Krothapalli Raja Surya Sambasiva Rao.
Prof Roa took charge on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters on the sideline of handing over charge and reception ceremony, the vice-chancellor said he would give priority to development of the varsity especially in the field of administration and academic.
“I am very glad that I have opportunity to come here and do something great for the university and I will take massive effort to lift up the varsity at the national limelight,” he said.
The 58-year-old professor said the students of Mizoram University “are hard-working and sincere and have high potential”.
“One one my visions is to make Mizoram University stands number one in the country and arrange 100 per cent job placement for the students,” Rao said, adding that he would take effort to expose students to the outside world.
Rao, who was formerly rector of Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur in Andhra Pradesh said that free WiFi facility will be introduced in the entire university campus and many important online courses will also be introduced for academic development of the students.
Inviting other students to come and study here, Rao also lauded Mizoram University as one of the most peaceful universities in the country where students and teachers hardly resort to agitation and violent activities.
He also expressed his aspiration to develop the university in terms of hold Academic – Industry Interactions with both National and International agencies and Educational Institutions and also to meet with members of different committees and Associations of the University to discuss about future developments.
Rao also spoke about the necessity to update the academic courses for International collaborations.
Rao assumed his office as the new Vice Chancellor of Mizoram University after former VC Prof. Lianzela handed over charge to him today.
Addressing the reception ceremony being held at MZU Auditorium, the newly appointed VC talked about his aspirations for the university and pointed out that during the next 5 years as VC, he aspired to put Mizoram University amongst the Top 10 Universities in the country and also establish International Collaborations for both academics and Industrial Partnership.
Mizoram University (MZU), which is located at Tanhril, about 10 km west of Aizawl holds 94thposition in the overall ranking of more than 3000 higher institutions in the country as per the 2017 ranking released by MHRD for higher education institutions recently. Also, amongst 700 universities in India, the MZU stood at 58th position and holds the 4th place in the entire Northeast.
