Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): Dawrpui Presbyterian Church here in Aizawl begun centenary celebration on Thursday with a centenary run being organised at Dawrpui neighbourhood.
Interestingly the centenary celebration coincided with Missionary Day’ the 124th anniversary of the arrival of two English missionaries Rev JH Lorrain, and Rev FW Savidge in Lushai Hills in 1894.
The centenary run which begun on 6:30 am on Thursday was joined by over 200 church members. The people marched from Dawrpui to memorial stone of the two missionaries at McDonald Hills where a tribute function was held to remember and pay respect to the pioneer missionaries.
Established in 1918, Dawrpui Presbyterian church will celebrate its centenary throughout this year and on February 4, official opening of the centenary celebration will be held. In October this year, the local church will organise centenary week during which new church building will be inaugurated.
