Aizawl (ZoramObserver.com): The first Friday of March will now be celebrated as Chapchar Kut every year in Mizoram.
The decision was taken during a review of Chapchar Kut 2017 headed by Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla today.
Art & Culture Minister Pu R. Romawia and Organizing Committee Member attended the meeting at the CM Conference Hall here in the state capital.
Pu Lal Thanhawla expressed his satisfaction that the younger generation “are actively showing interest in our culture”. I invite everyone to freely participate in these kind of cultural activities.,” he said.
He also mentioned that the Zo tribes in other states continued to celebrate Chapchar Kut. “This is a good sign of brotherhood bonding among our people,” he added.
Chapchar Kut Organising Committee Secretary and CYMA General Secretary Pu Lalhmachhuana gave a detailed report of the government-sponsored cultural event.
“It was a great success. The event has become a good platform not just from tourism angle, but for showcasing our cultural heritage,” he said.
Some of the proposals in the review meeting include: Having a fixed date for Chapchar Kut, a slogan or theme, better traffic control during Chapchar Kut and others.
