Aizawl (zoramobserver.com): Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) general secretary K. Sapdanga on Friday said that there is a growing interest among the people to change government in Mizoram. He was addressing the official opening of the alliance office here in Aizawl.
ZPM is a pre-poll alliance formed by opposition Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP), Mizoram People’s Conference (MPC) and a group called Zoram Exodus Movember (ZEM).
Speaking on the occasion, K, Sapdanga, who is also the editor of the largest circulated vernacular paper ‘Vanglaini’ in Mizoram said that the perspective of the people towards politics has changed significantly.
“It was not only among the neutral group but also among people affiliated to a particular party that there was a significant change of opinion as far as politics is concerned. Even the party workers who voted a particular party to power are in favour of change in the government,” he said.
He said that the change in political view of the people was not a new thing but usually happened in Mizoram as an indication of change to be seen in the next assembly elections.
He said that the people of Mizoram including neutral group and non-neutral group would face a trial for the next government and it is clear as of now that who the people will vote to power.
He added that Congress is unlikely to retain power in the state.
“The people will now decided whether to vote back the party which has ruled the state for 10 years or elected new party to govern the state,” he added.
