Aizawl: With filmmakers in Bollywood expressing their desire to make a film on the club and coach Khalid Jamil, Aizawl FC is likely to get a further boost to its success story and get worldwide recognition of its historic winning of the Indian I-League title.
Aizawl FC president and owner Robert Romawia Royte, while speaking on the occasion of World Aids Orphans Day organised jointly by Gan Sabra Society, District Child Protection Unit and World Vision in Aizawl on Saturday last, stated that Bollywood has shown interest in making a film on Aizawl FC and coach Khalid Jamil which would be based on the journey of the club from a relatively unknown club to the Champion of India.
He said that the film would be aptly titled Zero to Hero, taking off on his complimentary remarks while referring to the club in his address at the grand reception given to Aizawl FC on their home coming here recently.
Royte said that well-known Bollywood star Ajay Devgan would be playing the role of coach Khalid Jamil, who has been named the “I-League Coach of the Year”.
The proposed Bollywood blockbuster film would feature, among others the footballing sessions of Gan Sabra and Aizawl FC Academy, he added.
Aizawl FC is the first football club from the north east to win the I-League title.
Meanwhile, the success of Aizawl FC has caught worldwide attention with the president of FIFA congratulating the club on its historic I-League triumph. In a letter addressed to president of All India Football Federation (AIFF), Praful Patel recently, FIFA president Gianni Infantino wrote that it gave him great pleasure to send his warmest congratulations to Aizawl FC for their first ever league title.
“On behalf of the entire football community, I would like to thank Aizawl FC and your association for helping to spread the positive message of football,” he said.
