Aizawl (www.zoramobserver.com): All Mizoram major civil societies and student bodies are set to stage demonstration against illegal immigrants in Mizoram. The proposed demonstration would be held in Aizawl on 28 October.
The meeting of NGO Co-ordination held on Monday agreed that it will join Delhi Mizo Zirlai Pawl (DMZP) which is staging anti-illegal immigrants demonstration in Delhi on 28 October.
“As requested by DMZP which is organising demonstration in Delhi on 28 October, the meeting of NGO Co-ordination Committee agreed to join and organise the same here in Aizawl on the same day,” a statement issued by the committee said.
Meanwhile, assembly speaker Hiphei appealed to central committee of YMA not to entertain the agenda that YMA would take initiative for legal dissolution of Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC). The agenda is likely to be deliberated and passed at 71st YMA general conference that begun this evening at Champhai Zotlang in Mizoram-Myanmar border.
The agenda said that YMA would take measure to legally dissolve CADC which was established illegally in 1972 along with two other ADCs in Mizoram- Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) and Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC).
In his written appeal, Hiphei objected the agenda by saying dissolution of CADC would be difficult as it has been created under sixth schedule of the constitution after two houses of parliament approved it.
He further said that the initiative to dissolve CADC may likely cause communal disharmony among different communities in Mizoram and it may also tarnish the integrity of the Mizo people.
