Saikot SDC asks Manipur government to immediately meet obligations

Saikot ( The Saikot Sub-Division Demand Committee has appealed to the Government of Manipur to make the SDO Office fully operational.

On May 20, the SSDC met Churachandpur DC Pu R. Sudhan at his office and apprised him of the requirements necessary for making Saikot Sub-Division Office functional to its full potential.

Saikot Sub-Division Demand Committee members Pu Timothy Z. Zote (Chairman), Pu R. Lalkaisanga (Secretary) and Pu Lalsandam (Executive Member) highlighted issues like the non-posting of revenue staff at Saikot SDO office and how this is causing hardship to the local people.

“The SSDC requested the honorable district official to intimidate the issues to the government in this regard and Pu Sudhan helped us in completing the necessary procedure on the same day – the reminder letter to the government was immediately prepared by the DC office. We are thankful to Pu Sudhan for his openness towards our genuine concerns,” the organization said.

These are the five points mentioned in the reminder letter by the SSDC to the Government of Manipur:-

  1. Posting of sufficient staff plus office furniture
  2. Processing of land transfer documents at Saikot SDO Office
  3. Inclusion of five villages in Saikot Sub-Division
  4. Establishment of nationalised bank and ATM facilities under Saikot SDO area
  5. Posting of SDPO.

“We were impressed by Pu Sudhan’s desire to bring development to the people as per law of the land. The SSDC can proudly say that we need dedicated officials like him and we appeal to the public to back him up in ways they can,” the SSDC added.

The SSDC also said that it informed the DC about the “step-motherly” like treatment meted out towards Saikot SDO Area. “The committee urged the government that Saikot Primary Health Centre,  being declared the best service provider in Manipur, be soon upgraded to a Community Health Centre.”

Demand for school at Ngurte

In addition, the leaders mentioned the need for introduction of more trades at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), upgradation of Saikot Government High School to a Higher Secondary and building of a primary school in Ngurte Village.

“The Government of Manipur led by Pu Biren Singh should understand that these three additional points are also essential for the bringing development to the grassroots level. It is our prayer that his government would consider them at the earliest….We also appeal to the people of Saikot Sub-Division not to give up hope in our pursuit for all-round development,” they said.
