Pherzawl, June 17: As per the direction of the new BJP government led by Chief Minister Pu N. Biren Singh, People’s Day was also held here in Pherzawl – the district headquarters of Pherzawl District – on June 15 along with the rest of the state.
“The event was hosted by Pherzawl District Deputy Commissioner Pu A Tombi Kanta and he was joined by Pherzawl ADC Pu W. Ibohal along with Thanlon SDO, Parbung SDO, Vangai ZEO, Pherzawl District DMO and PHED SO. As many as 60 people took part in the event to air their grievances to the DC,” said a press statement issued by the Pherzawl District Development Committee (PDDC).
The Northern Thanlon Chiefs Association also submitted a memorandum to the top district official during the event.
We “expressed its gratitude to Pu Biren’s government for taking up this citizen-centric initiatives. We have great hope that he will be able to transform this part of Manipur during his tenure,” said PDDC.
The event was also attended by one Indian Army major and few other officials posted at Parbung. Some Imphal-based journalists from ISTV covered the event.
“Lastly, we appeal to the general public to stand united and backup the joint efforts taken up by the PDDC in collaboration with all stakeholders,” the committee’s statement added.
PDDC Secretary Pu L.Thanzam Pulamte, PDDC Vice Chairman and CCPur ADC member Pu Lalhmangpui witnessed the first ever-citizen centric public grievance meet held in the district.
