The Assam Rifles in a joint operation with Manipur Police apprehended two suspected Vaiphei militants from Imphal East District on Wednesday.
The early morning raid at Andro Heirokland/Kamu Tamnong village was a success, according to police statement.
The two arrested militants have been identified as Thoilen Vaiphei (32) and Lelen Vaiphei (30). Two AK 47 rifles, one M3 rifle, a pistol along with seven magazines were seized. They were handed over to the Andro Police Station, said Imphal East District SP Herojit Singh.
The officer said that over 250 bullets were also found from Lamthenlal Vaiphei’s granary.
The seized weapons belongs to USRA militant group, said Herojit.
