Press review: All American

Today, CW launches its new series, All American.

All American follows a promising football player from South Central, Los Angeles, who is recruited by Beverly Hills High School. The victories, losses and struggles of two families from two different worlds – Compton and Beverly Hills – clash. The All American series is inspired by the life of professional player Spencer Paysinger.

In the cast of the series, we find Daniel Ezra, Taye Diggs and Cody Christian.

On the critical side, opinions are mixed:

All American works because its authors often push the plot beyond the usual stereotypes. The cast is excellent and Ezra is a great discovery, an English actor not very well known until now.– USA Today/Kelly Lawler

We find a little Friday Night Lights in the new series of CW but for the moment, it is not of the same level.– Uncle Barky/Ed Bark

Everything is very schematic in the pilot, but I hope for a little more subtlety afterwards.– Boston Globe/Matthew Gilbert

There is no spark here, no great moment and worse yet, no authenticity.– The New York Times/Margaret Lyons
