Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Manchester United to avoid selling Jesse Lingard

The 28-year-old is yet to feature in the Premier League this season and has made just three appearances across the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.

According to reports this week, Lingard’s representatives have held talks with Nice over a potential loan deal for the remainder of the season.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham have also been linked with a move for the midfielder.

But according to The Telegraph, United are not actively looking to offload Lingard this month.

The report also claims that Solskjaer believes that Lingard ‘could still have a useful squad role’ at Old Trafford.

Speaking last month, Solskjaer claimed that Lingard had been ‘unfortunate’ to miss out on more playing time due to Covid-19 restrictions.

‘He’s been working hard in training,’ said the United manager.

‘He’s been unfortunate with having to isolate a few times, been in contact, or close contact with Covid, not even having it himself.

“He’s been very unlucky being away from the training ground a few times. He works really hard.’
