Freddie Mercury’s Queen bandmates congratulate Rami Malek for the win and celebrate together at Oscars afterparty

Rami Malek’s role as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury got him one of the night’s most sought after award at the 91st annual Academy Awards which took place on Sunday evening and the star got the best congratulations of the night from Mercury’s Queen bandmates.

Malek enjoyed the company of the rock legends while he was preparing for an appearance at The Fox afterparty later on that night. The 37-year-old Malek was seen with Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor after he accepted his award for his portrayal as the late Freddie Mercury in the recent biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ which shows the band’s rise to fame and success.

Ahead of The Fox celebration, Malek was seen posing for pictures and looked absolutely delighted in the company of May and Taylor who supported and guided the film. They were also joined by May’s wife Anita Dobson who is best known for her earlier role as the pub landlady Angie Watts in the show ‘EastEnders’. Malek was also supported by his family — his mother Nelly, sister Jasmine, and brother Sami. Drummer Taylor’s wife Sarina Potgieter was also in attendance.

Among Malek’s co-stars was his girlfriend Lucy Boynton who was also present to help Malek celebrate his success.

She looked absolutely stunning in a glittering evening gown and showered her beau with affection and love through the prestigious event.

Earlier that same night, Malek had to be treated by medics after he fell off stage after winning the Best Actor Award at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. At the time of the fall, he was surrounded by many people who rushed to help him up when he fell. According to the Los Angeles Times, Malek was rather stunned after the fall as medics treated him in the front row of the venue.

Rami did not suffer from any serious injury in the incident. The paramedics proceeded to take him to a private area backstage to treat him further. As a result of the small accident, Malek almost missed out on posing for the traditional acting awards photo with Best Actress winner Olivia Colan and Supporting Actor and Actress winners Mahershala Ali and Regina King.

Malek was seen in the press room to talk about his win and showed no signs of injury. He told reporters, “The fact that I have this in my hand right now is beyond my expectation that myself or perhaps my family ever could have had.”
