EastEnders spoilers: Dayle Hudson reveals Peter Beale’s ‘exasperating’ discoveries

Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) makes not one but two shock discoveries in EastEnders during the coming episodes.

The first of those comes in the form of him learning that Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) has lost her home as a result of a fire.

‘His first reaction is utter panic to be honest,’ says actor Dayle Hudson, ‘[panic] For the safety of his immediate family. When Lauren asks him for help he sees it as a way to quickly make amends and try to build some sort of bridge.

‘But his initial reaction is to panic for the safety of his son more than anything else.

‘His relationship with Lauren is fractured obviously. They talk but there’s no love there.  She’s happy for Peter to talk to Louie as much as he wants to. But because of Peter’s busy family schedule at the moment it’s limited to once a week.’

‘Peter misses [Louie] massively! Coming back to see his family put Louie on the back burner but I think he massively misses him. Being back in Walford is something Peter has to do to become a better person and become a better dad in the future.

In an effort to help Lauren, Peter decides to go to Ian (Adam Woodyatt) for assistance.

‘It’s Bobby that gives him the idea,’ reveals Dayle, ‘And straight away he is very defensive, he doesn’t think it’s going to work, he thinks there’s no chance to be honest.

But Bobby persuades him into thinking his dad might actually say yes which gives him a nice glimmer of hope.’

In addition to being preoccupied with Lauren’s dilemma, Peter also makes another devastating discovery: Ian has left him out of his will.

‘With the will I think the thing that takes Peter over the edge is the fact that Bobby did get a mention.

‘I don’t think he was expecting to be in the will but when he sees that Bobby’s got a mention it brings back all sorts of feeling about Lucy, and he’s thinking – what is it about me that he just doesn’t like and what is it about Bobby, who is actually a criminal, that he does like? It’s exasperating!’

‘It’s one thing after another with Ian. Re-mortgaging the caff was just another thing that was ridiculous, so the family kicked Ian out. Ian’s not covered in glory with the family at all. Even Bobby doesn’t like him.

‘Peter’s always had to explain to his nan and his little brother why his dad is the way he is and for the first time in a while they’ve seen it first-hand. It gives Peter a nice bit of satisfaction.’
