Robert De Niro Drags Rudy Giuliani’s “Desperation” as Trump’s Personal Attorney

Fervent Trump critic Robert De Niro has found a new target. Friday morning on The View, De Niro dragged Rudy Giuliani, Trump’s personal attorney, for spewing unfounded claims of election fraud in a “crazy” press conference yesterday. The Goodfellas star insisted that it’s “sad” Giuliani has gone from prosecuting the New York mafia to “representing a mob family,” as the former mayor could have easily gone down a different path. “He had so much respect and people would hire him and want to hire him, and he’s going this other way,” said De Niro. “It’s just nuts.”

De Niro opened his View interview with his usual Trump schtick — Trump’s reelection would be “the end of this country, period,” said the actor — but he brought in some new material thanks to a question from Sunny Hostin. “I wanted to ask you about Giuliani,” said the co-host and ABC legal analyst. “Rudy Giuliani is still trying to fight the results in court with ridiculous claims. Yesterday, he quoted My Cousin Vinny in a press conference. Earlier this week, he claimed a ‘mafia’ of Democrats rigged the votes for Biden. I mean, Giuliani used to prosecute actual mob bosses in the ’80s in federal court! What happened to him?!”

“I know, I know,” replied De Niro, adding that Giuliani began his career by “prosecuting [the five major mob families] under the RICO Act,” and now he’s doing the Trump family’s bidding. “It’s crazy! I don’t know what happened to him. I feel bad for him.”

When Hostin asked why Giuliani would continue to support Trump, De Niro said that it’s possible he’s doing it “for the attention” or maybe even “desperation” and a feeling like “it’s the only way.” Added the actor, “I can’t understand because it’s just as easy to say, ‘Look, I can’t buy into this. I can’t go along with this. It’s over. I’m out.’”

Of course, Rudy Giuliani does not seem to be listening to Robert De Niro. At the very least, maybe he could follow De Niro’s haircare advice and let the grays come in naturally?
