Free-scoring heavyweights FC RIDIL to take on big contenders FAST-A

Ccpur, May 13, 2017 : After champions Sielmat YC earned a place in the final yesterday, the onus is now on heavyweights FC RIDIL and FAST-A to show which one between the two is capable of mounting a challenge to the finalist champions as the two sides go head-to-head in today’s second semi-finals clash of the ongoing 14th Hmar Martyrs’ Trophy 2017 at Saikot playground, Churachandpur.

Both teams for today’s semi-finals clash have not tasted defeat so far but needed a penalty shoot-out victory to reach this stage.

Newcomers but considered hot contenders since the start of the tournament , FC RIDIL have lived up to the expectation so far as they registered an incredible goal-scoring record. Having topped their group with a 100% win record, FC RIDIL comfortably saw off Zeal SC in the knock-out round but needed a penalty shoot-out victory against another heavyweight Lenlai Club in the quarter-finals after being held to a goalless draw in regulation period. With an incredible record of 20 goals in 4 games, FC RIDIL are the best attacking team with an average record of 4 goals per match and, having conceded just two goals, are among the best defensive teams as well.

Meanwhile, FAST-A are group winner of Pool B and reached this stage after a penalty shoot-out victory over Megadash FC and a 2-1 win over Teksiepu FC in the knock-out and quarter-finals rounds respectively and with a goal scoring tally of 9 goals in 5 games with 3 goals conceded, they have an average goal-scoring record of 1.8 goals per match.

As for today’s semi-finals showdown, both teams have similar features in certain aspects. Having a mixed blend of youth and experience, both sides have similar strengths in terms of players at their disposal. With 2 goals conceded by each side in the tournament so far, they have an equal defensive record while in terms of attacking record, FC RIDIL comfortably surpass their Rengkai rivals with an average record of 4 goals per match against FAST-A’s record of 1.8 and in today’s crunch battle, the form of leading goal-scorer Deepak Singh will play a vital role in FC RIDIL’s title charge.
