Victory in Chakma council marks emergence of BJP in Mizoram

Aizawl, May 3: Heaping praise on the latest political achievement achieved by the BJP, state general secretary Vanlalhmuaka on Thursday said that the victory of BJP in the recently concluded Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) election was an indication of the emergence of the party in Mizoram.

He was addressing a function celebrating the victory and council formation in the CADC on Thursday at the party office here.

Vanlalhmuaka said the BJP has been advancing rapidly in Mizoram as the party wave has begun to blow in the state.

“We begin a journey from zero to five seats in the CADC and this is a great achievement for the BJP in Mizoram,” the leader told party workers.

Though some parties channelise a propaganda that BJP is a party that has to be scared of, an attempt on the part of the MNF, which is a constituent of NEDA and the ruling Congress to work with the BJP signifies that Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government is the need of Mizoram, Vanlalhmuaka said.

He said that the BJP must come to power in the assembly elections for all-round development in the state.

The leader also expressed hope that the BJP led government would be formed in Karnataka after the assembly elections.

State BJP vice-president Judy Zohmingliani also expressed happiness for the development that BJP would finally form a government in the CADC.

She said that the BJP led government in CADC would be inclusive and reliable, which would aim to bring all-round development in the area.

Vanlalhmuaka had earlier said that the BJP led government supported by six Congress members would be formed in the CADC.

The announcement came after state governor Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (Rtd) invited the United Legislature Party formed by BJP and Congress combine to form the government on Wednesday.

The governor also accepted the election of Santi Jiban Chakma of the BJP as leader of the ULP and also his prayer for appointment as Chief Executive Member (CEM).

The swearing-in of the CEM and 10 others members will be held on Friday at Chawngte in south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district, according to BJP leaders.
