Pherzawl (zoramobserver.com): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has activated its first mobile tower in Pherzawl to cater to the communication needs of the people of Pherzawl District. With this development, people will no longer have to search ‘mobile hotspots’ where they usually get poor mobile signal from neighbouring Mizoram in order to make calls.
“Yes, (BSNL service) activated today (September 7). 2G likely from Monday,” Pherzawl Deputy Commissioner Pi Mannuamching said while confirming the good news.
Tender for installation of the 15M MARR Tower at Pherzawl was issued earlier this year. As per BSBL official data, the project was estimated to cost of about Rs 3.7 lakh. The installation work includes shifting of VSAT from Moreh to Pherzawl. With the district headquarter being electrified recently, officials said that the mobile tower “will function properly.”
Reports also said that Airtel is also installing its own mobile towers in Pherzawl, Thanlon and Senvon and they are almost completed. Vangai sub-division is also likely to have at least one mobile tower this year.
