Sielmat (zoramobserver.com): Manipur Education Minister T. Radheshyam has expressed his unhappiness over the condition of the Saikawt ITI in Tuithaphai (Churachandpur District).
The minister yesterday visited the center along with Commissioner (Education-S) M. Lakshmikumar and other officials.
The minister lamented the fact that “so much irregularity among the staff”. The ITI compound looks more like a cowshed with overgrowing grasses. He said even the computer room does not reflect the amount of money sanctioned by the state government.
He also stated that focus should be on employment generating trade while assuring that regular inspections will be conducted on the renovation of the campus and the hostel.
The Hmar Students Association, Churachandpur JHQ officials, who were accompanied the minister told him that they had submitted a memorandum for upgradation of Saikawt Primary Health Centre to Community Health Centre & Saikawt Government High School to a Higher Secondary level to Chief Minister N Biren Singh earlier in the morning.
Radheshyam assured the ITI officials and student leaders that he will look into the memorandum.
“As this is a new government which is for the people, institute staff must work hard in every possible way,” the minister added.
